L’étude de systèmes « intelligents » est un axe fort dans la recherche internationale tant académique qu’industrielle. Ces systèmes sont sensibles, adaptatifs et évolutifs et on les retrouve dans de nombreuses voies d’applications nouvelles comme le médical, le textile, l’emballage… De très nombreux travaux sont réalisés à partir de polymères de synthèse. L’expérience de l’équipe dans le domaine des polysaccharides ainsi que les propriétés de ces polymères naturels nous a amené comme quelques équipes de recherche nationales et internationales à réaliser de tel système à partir de polysaccharides.

Nous recherchons à étudier des systèmes complexes à base de polysaccharides (modifiés ou non) capables de former des architectures et des autoassemblages en solution et au voisinage d’interfaces solides. Ceux-ci vont présenter des propriétés modulables en fonction de paramètres extérieurs comme la température, le pH, la force ionique…  L’activité peut être divisée en plusieurs thèmes :

Fonctionnalisation des polysaccharides (modification chimique et réticulation de précurseurs)
Autoassemblages en solution
Systèmes matriciels et hydrogels
Autoassemblages macromoléculaires aux interfaces
Films polyélectrolytes par la méthode dite layer by layer
Etude du système acide hyaluronique-hyaluronidase.
Cet axe concerne l'étude de la cinétique enzymatique de la hyaluronidase fonctionnant soit dans le sens de la coupure de l'acide hyaluronique, soit dans le sens de sa synthèse. Ces travaux ont des implications dans le domaine de la cancérogenèse.

Valorisation et partenariat

 L’expérience de l’équipe sur la caractérisation des polymères en solution nous permet d’obtenir de nombreux contrats industriels. 

Nous avons accueilli la société PolyIntell lors de sa création en 2003. Celle-ci a eu le soutien de l’incubateur de Haute Normandie et a reçu le 3^ème Prix Spécial du Jury du 6^ème concours national création d’entreprise en juin 2004. L’équipe de recherche a dû déménager pour obtenir un laboratoire plus spacieux dans les locaux de l’IRCOF.
